Manufacturing & engineering · Colorado Springs

IT for manufacturers and engineering firms.

Drawings, CAD models and machine programs are the business, and the shop floor often runs on computers nobody wants to touch. We secure the office, separate the floor and help defense suppliers meet their contract requirements, at published prices.

What manufacturers and engineering firms need from IT

Protect the drawings, keep the machines running.

Many local shops and firms sit in the defense supply chain around Fort Carson, Peterson and Schriever, and that brings contract security requirements with it.

The shop floor on its own network

Machine controllers and the older PCs that run them kept on a separate segment from office email and the internet, so one phishing click cannot reach the floor.

Drawings and CAD files protected

Large design files in storage with access by project, versions kept, and backups that can restore a whole project, not just a folder.

Defense contract requirements

If you handle Controlled Unclassified Information, DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST SP 800-171 apply. We find the gaps, write the documentation and fix what needs fixing. See our defense compliance services.

Email that cannot be forged

Quotes, purchase orders and payment changes travel by email. SPF, DKIM and DMARC at enforcement stop mail forged in your name.

Remote access for engineers

Engineers working from home or a customer site get in through multi-factor sign-in, not an open remote desktop port.

Uptime you can plan around

A clear plan for the day a server, a switch or the internet connection fails, with the critical systems identified ahead of time.

What we found when we checked manufacturers and engineering firms email in El Paso and Teller County

In September 2026 we read the public email records of 821 local business domains that receive mail. These are the numbers for manufacturers and engineering firms. No business is named, here or anywhere.

31 of 36

Manufacturing and engineering domains could be impersonated by email (86%)

21

had no DMARC record at all, so nothing tells receiving servers to reject forged mail

were fully protected: SPF, DKIM and DMARC at enforcement

Start with the free email security check

Customers and suppliers act on quotes, purchase orders and payment details in email that carries your name. The check reads your domain’s public records and emails a plain-English report to an address at that domain, so it reaches the business that owns it and nobody else. Nothing is installed and nobody signs in to anything.

If it finds problems, we fix them for a fixed $495 per domain, done within a week of your go-ahead, with a before-and-after report. Run the check → · Read the full local report →

Which plan fits a manufacturer or engineering firm

Most shops and firms start with an Advisory project, a network or compliance review, then keep the safeguards running with Secure Office. Published prices, a $299 one-time setup on the monthly plans, and engineer time only with your OK. Compare all plans →

Secure Office
$249/mo + $35/user

  • Everything in Front Desk, with 600 minutes and appointment booking
  • Email security set up and kept at enforcement: SPF, DKIM and DMARC
  • Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace security baseline: multi-factor sign-in, admin accounts locked down
  • Domain, certificate and email records monitored daily, with a monthly report card
  • Shared password vault and unlimited AI help desk
  • Engineer time at $175/hr, only with your OK

  • Network design for the office and the shop floor, with segmentation and firewalls
  • NIST SP 800-171 gap assessment, System Security Plan and plan of action
  • File storage and backup sized for CAD and design files, with a tested restore
  • Cabling and business WiFi for offices, shops and warehouses
  • Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace security baseline
  • Email security fixed and moved to enforcement

An honest note on scope

We do not program machines or support CAD and ERP software itself; we secure and connect the systems they run on. We help you prepare for a defense contract assessment, but we are not an assessment organization and cannot certify you. We do not migrate tenants into Microsoft’s government clouds.

We handle CUI. Where do we start?

With a gap assessment against NIST SP 800-171: what you have, what is missing, and a written plan to close it. Your System Security Plan and your self-assessment score are built from the same work.

Can you secure machines we cannot update?

Usually by isolating them: their own network segment, no internet access and only the connections they actually need. Replacing a controller is rarely the first step.

We already use Microsoft 365. Aren’t we protected?

Not by default. Microsoft 365 makes DKIM and DMARC available, but most businesses never turn them on. In our local research, only 2% of Microsoft 365 domains were fully protected.

Is there a contract?

Front Desk and Secure Office are month to month after setup. Project work is scoped and approved in writing, piece by piece.
